This year the book is an autobiographical book by Dr Papa Tom Davis documenting an extraordinary life of a Pacific Islander.
He was Cook Island's first NZ trained doctor Otago MD, undertook reformation of the public health system in the Cooks 1940's, attended Harvard School of Public Health and on the way skippering a small sailing boat successfully across the southern oceans, worked for US military as a scientist - inc US Space Programme, reaching the highest civilian rank of 3 star general, Prime minister of the Cook Islands. In later years navigating a Vaka without instruments in his 80's retracing Polynesian voyaging.
His research findings are still relevant today.
